(Per P*ess Aesgelation.) Dunedin, last night.
The Dunedin Presbytery discussed at some leugth to-day the question of Bible reading in schools. The following resolution was carried : —“ Tho Presbytery heartily approve of the introduction of selections from the Word of God to our State schools, endorse the platform of the Bible in Schools Referendum League, promise to support the League financially by recommending all the congregations within their bounds to give a retiring collection for this purpose, or otherwise to give tho people encouragement and opportunity to support the Leßgue.” The Rev. J. Chisholm desired to move an amendment declining financial assistance, and urging family piety and home worship as the most effectual way of eligious training, but it was objected that it was not an amendment, except in regard to tho financial clause. The original motion was put seriatim, and oarried, the Rev. J. Chisholm’s amendment declining to recommend financial assistance only finding two supporters. An application was made to the George street school committee for onehalf hour each week for religious instruction daring school hears. The committee carried a motion that an opportunity would bo afforded for a class before or after echool hours.
