The Savings Bank Trustees have donated £IOOO to the Hospital extension fund.

A boarding house in Sydney street, owned by Mr Fiances, and occupied by Misses Upson and Carr and six boarders, was destroyed by firo at 2.30 on Sunday morning. The inmates narrowly escaped with their lives. The furniture was insured for £75 in tho National and the building for £SOO in tho South British. Hamilton last night.
On Saturday evening a man named Joseph Yearburg jumped into tho Waikato river between Ngaruwahia and Taupiri to save a horse that had slipped in. Yearburg, who was fully dressed, was drowned. His body has not yet been recovered.
