The second session of tho second Federal Parliament was opened by Lord Northoote to-day. There was a full attendance. Tha speech contained only five clauses. It simply referred to re-submitting a scheme fer the redistribution of seats, which will be introduced without delay. Members were completely taken by Bnrpris.9 at the abrupt termination. As soon as Lord Northcoto had withdrawn, and the significance of tho Government’s move dawned upon members, they bnrst into general laughter, intorsporsed with shouts from the Oppositionists, who were apparently chagrined. Gradually the members dispersed, -and the House mot again for business in the afternoon.

Received 1.10 a.m., Jane 29. In the House; Mr Pallor, moving • the adoption of the address, said that Mr Deakin's action in severing bis connection with the coalition and reverting to the old three-party system, made an . appeal to the country for tho imperative course tha Government had marked out lead to that. On the motion of Mr Watson.the debate and House adjourned until to-morrow. In tho Senate some Laborites angrily commented on tho Government’s tactics, and it was adjourned.
