(Her Press Association-) Auckland, last night. .Mr Fowlds addressed his.constituents at Grey Lynn last night, speaking in favor of local government reform. Referring to the land.question, ho said he had no objection to converting leaseholds into freeholds, provided the areas of all freeholds, including those existing, were limited, and all were subject to taxation. A sketch of the model of the head of Sir George; Groy, in plaster of Paris, has -been received from F. J. Williamson, sculptor, of Auckland. The, statue was shipped to Wellington by the Moana yesterday. The statue committee, ip a letter to the Premier, ask that the model be placed in the Parliamentary lobby or library among past Now Zoaland statesmen. The value of the model is £SO. Hermon Langsdorf, who pleaded guilty to having defrauded two tradesmen at Redding, one at Hunterville, and another at. Auckland by means.of valueless cheques was sentenced to 12 months’ imprisonment.
TRAIN FATALITY.
(Per Press Association.) Inglewood, last night. A little girl, aged seven, a daughter of Mr Kerr, telegraphist, Newtown, Wellington, while passing to the refreshment car fell betweon the carriages of the mail train just north of Inglewood, with the result that her leg was crushed almost off close to the hip. She was taken off the train bore, and attended by Doctor Nutting, und sent on to Hawera hospital, whore she died. Her mother was on the train, all being on tbo way to Wellington.
