TRAWLING FOR FISH.

(Pen Press Association,.)’ Thames, last night. In response to a telegram from the Inspector of Fisheries with reference to a proposal to open the Hauraki Gulf to trawlers, Thames fishermen despatched a telegram strongly protesting against their introduction within the gulf waters, as likely to seriously injure the fishing industry and cause a large destruction of fish, as the gulf is a natural spawning ground for fish. The Hon. J. McGowan Was also communicated with and asked to protect tho interests of fishermen.
