r (Per Press [Association.) Wairoa, yesterday A very successful blast was made at Waikokopu Harbor on Saturday. It displaced about 5000 tons of stone, which was broken.into large blocks of from 800 tons downwards. Marten, last night. At the Bangitikoi Licensing Committee meeting at Hunterville on Saturday all renewals were granted. The application for a license for the Kai-Iwi hotel was adjournod for six weeks to allow the licensee to sell, the Bonoh refusing to grant the application on account of the intemperate habits of the licensee. An application for a license for the Wangaehu hotel was adjourned for three months, as the Benoh considered he was not in a fit condition of health to conduct a hotel business, particularly whore there was no police pro teotion. Several applications for wholesale licensee at Taihape were refused, after a lengthy hearing. 'Wellington! last night. A conference of wardens’and mining inspectors, {presided over by'the Hon. Mr McGowan, is being held here. The object of the oonference- is to consider means'of advancing • the "mining : industry industrially and-with respeot to the bearing of the law upon it,: particularly 'with regard to prospooting. The conference is not open to the press.
