COMMERCIAL.
(Per Press Association.) Wellington, last night. The Department of Industries and Commerce has received the following cablegram from the Agent-General, dated London 10th:—No alteration in the mutton market since last week’s report. The lamb market is quiet, high prices restricting business. There is a scarcity of prime lamb. There is no change in prices. Mo alteration is shown in the beef market s last report. The butter market is firm, with a good demand. The average ■price of New Zealand butter to-day is 97s per cwt. The cheese market is rather more active. The average price of finest New Zealand cheese to-day is 525. The hemp market is dull, poor business being don*. The price of New Zealand hemp, gd&2, fair Wellington grade, on spot to-day, per ton, is £26 ; July to August shipments £27.”
