PECULIAR ACCIDENT.

Auckland, last night,

The Hon. S. Thorne George had the misfortune to slip upon the highJy-polißhed floor of the Auckland Club hall, while hanging up his coatr. He fell heavily od his side. He was removed to his home, and a medical examination revealed the bone of the hip hed been telescoped into the socket, with the result that a painful fracture had occurred. It does not seem to be very serious at present, and it is hoped that in about three weeks he will be about again.
