FIRE AT NELSON.

SEVERAL BUILDINGS DESTKOYED

.(Per, Press Association.) Nelson, last nigh

A fire broke out at 3 this morning in the I stores o£ Messrs Rankin and Sons at Motuoka, and spread to the shop of Mr Kidson, the insurance office, and Foresters Hall. These were all completely destroyed, and the premises of Delaney and King wore saved with great difficulty. Mr Rudman, of the telegraph office, was slightly hurt, and Mr E. Richards was overcome by heat and smoke while fighting the fire. Messrs Rankin had over £IOO in the safe, on opening which some books were found decipherable, and the numbers of some of the notes were ascertainable. The insurances ore not known yet, and the damage is not estimated.
