COMMERCIAL.
(Per Press Association.) Christchurch, last night
Owing to the wet weather the local grain and produce markets have been very qniofc, and there baa been almost an entire absence of offerings. The decline in the London wheat market has lowered tbe tone here, and buyers ore therefore not anxious to operate ; whilst on the other hand thoro Is no disposition on tbe port of grower to accept reduced rates. Oats are difficult to get at buyers’ prices, and most of the outside orders are being supplied from
Southland. The wet weather bas prevented deliveries of both grain and produce. Potatoes are firm, os the stock in hand is low, and supplies are coming to baud slowly on account of the heavy rains. The crop has turned out much better than was expected and the potatoes appear to be keeping very well, while there have been no complaints from those who have received supplies from Lyttelton. Onions are scarce and prices are firmer, J2B 10s being paid for immediate delivery, while £9 has been paid by forward buyers.
