Mr H. E. Hill returns to Napier shortly to join the staff of Messrs Ooiberill and I Humphries, solicitors. I A presentation was made lo Mr J. Doyle, of the Union Steamship Company, by the choir of St, Mary’s Churob, prior Ito his departure for Auckland. The gift, which took the form pi a pair of hair Crushes and silver-mounted umbrella, was presented by the Rev. Father Mulvihill, who referrod to the attention whioh the recipient had given to all matters in coni nection with the choir. Mr G. Palairet also spoke feelingly of the Joss the ohoir would sustain by Mr Doyle’s departure. Tho Rev. H. Williams, of Gisborne, was amongst the latest callers at the AgencyGeneral, London. Bishop Grimes, of Christchurch, paid a short visit to Gisborne last Wednesday, on his way South. Tho Hon. James Carroll has presented the Poverty Bay Rugby Union with a handsome silver challenge cup for competition amongst tho senior olubs.
