Per Press Association. Timaru, last night. At tho Supremo Court a man named Wilson, charged with violent assault with intent to rob, was found guilty of assault only, and was sentenced to twelvemonths. In a divorce case, in which the husband, petitioner, lives in Christchurch, and the respondent in Auckland, a deoroe nisi was granted on the ground of dosortton. The evidence showed that the wife left the husband within a month lI their marriage, and refused to have anything more to do with him. Feilding, last night. The Licensing Bench to-day renewed all hotel and two wholesale licenses. Auckland, last night. The weather is now fine, bright and settled looking. Mr Duncan, Minister for Lands, arrived in Auckland from the Waikato to-day. He leaves for Wellington to-morrow. The Minister visited Selwyn Estate, lately ac quired for closer settlement. It consists of 160,000 acres. It will be ready for selection in August. At a meeting at St. Peter’s Presbyterian Church it was resolved to extend a call to tho Rev. R. H. Cathewood. of Southland.
