LAND COMMISSION.

The Land Commission sat at Whangamomoana on Wednesday, and a considerable amount of evidence was beard, which wa3 generally in favor of the option of the freehold being given to Crown tenants. The hardships of settlors during the winter wns pointed out. It was stated that they are imprisoned by mud during a portion of the year. The Government wore urged to push on tho road and rail way works. The practioe of loading lands for roads was condemned. Satisfaction was expressed at the Lada Boards and Advances to Settlers Department. The Commission heard evidence of a similar nature at Strathmore yesterday, and sits at Stratford to-day, leaving for Taihape to-morrow. ,
