ROBBING THE PRODUCERS. I By Telegraph—Tress Association —Copyright Melbourne, June 2. The Butter Commission’s report states that of the total amount paid in bonuses £22,598 was reoeivcd by the Fresh Food and Frozen Storage Company. Over £19,000 was paid direct to Bertram and Son, who also collected £1879 ns agents for C. W. Pray and Co. Tbß.y were paid £10,547 and collected £7375 us agents. Tho Commission is firmly of opinion that professed agentß in Melbourne, in conjunction with certain brokers in London, controlled the market in Victorian butter, studying tboir own interests as against the benefit obtained by producers from healthy competition. Tlje evidence in regard to some defunct butter companies was severely commented on, and in the cases of the Fresh Food and Frozen Storage and Viotorian Creamery Butter companies tho Government are recommended to submit the foots disclosed in reference to the downfall of tho companies to the consideration of tho Crown law authorities.
