Now that secrecy is no longer necessary it is announced at Tokio that mines at Port Arthur sank the battleship Yashima and destroyer Akatsuki in May, 1904, the destroyer Hayatori in September, and the cruiser Takasago in December. The gunboat Ashima sank in collision in May, 1904, off Liaotung. The gunboat Atago struck a rock and sank in November at Port Arthur.
