CHRISTCHURCH, last night, At the Addington yardsr'there was a fairly, large entry‘of almost all classes of" stock, and there was a good attendance., Beef showed a sharg decline in values, 'Fat lambs were somewhat irregular,, but fat sheep were if anything firmer. Store sheep met .with, good demand, Pigs of all classes were Very, .dull of sale,, but there was a good enquiry for, the , best sorts of dairy cows. Store sheep : ,Tho yarding was n.ot large, and was composed almost entirely of wethers an|dj hjo'ggqts. .There was a good demand,, especially, for hoggets, and prices were still firmer. Pat sheep. : .Tho yar-Hin'g was gooid, both as to number; anil quality.,, and all prime lots were well competed An export buyer was operating in ewes, and. generally there was a' firmer tone throughout, the sale. The range of prices was :•—Prime wethers 22s 6dl to 255, others I9s 9cl to 22a ; ewes, extra heavy, Downs to 24s 7d,j T>rimo heavy 19a to 235, medium itoj "good 16s to 18s 6.d, freezing ewes 16s to 18s, aged 12s fid to 13a fid.Fat cattle s There was an oversupply,, 259 head being penned!. A .very, dull sale resulted, the prifc.es showing b) decided [decline.. The reduction in the retail price of beef may aisg have affected the maiikfct. The bulk of the yarding consisted of good to prime steers,, and only the best quality was really saleable. Cows and rough sorts of steer a were difficult to dispose of at any figure, Prime beef made 19s to 20s„ ’a few, choice steers to 21s, medium ‘l7s to 18s, and cowa and inferior 14s to. 16s per 1001 b. A line of twelve heifers (W., O. Rutherford, of Montrose) made £7 2s 6d to £8 7s. Steers sold at £6 5s to £9 7s 6d, heifers £.4 17s 6d to £7„ and cows !£-l 5s to £7 2s6d, veal calves 8s Cd to £3. A lino .of vealers (E„, Ricliarcls, " Y'aihao Downs) averaged £2 7 s 3d.
Store and dairy cattle —Tiers were a few good lines amongst those offered, but there appeared to be no buyers, and meat of the lot 3 were passed in. Really good dairy cows were wanted, but othor sorts were not so brisk of sale. Yearlings mode 15s to 20s, 15 to 18 months 42s to 48s, 2-year-old steers £3 9s, 3 year-old steers £4 4s to £4 17s 6d, 3 year-old heifers £4 3s 6d, dry cows 303 to £4, best dairy cows £8 to £lO 10s, and others £4 to £7 103.
Pigs.—Thero was a fairly largo yarding, but the bulk of the baeoners and porkers were not well finished. Baeoners made 38s to 48s, and heavy-weights np to 535, equa to 3d to 4d por lb, porkers 23s to 325, equa to 4d to 4Jd per lb, large stores 16s to 23s medium 10s to 15s, and weaners 6s to 93
