’(Per Press Association.) Dunedin, Inst night. A largely attonded publio mooting was held in the Town Hall this evening to take stops to raiso funds to add a now ward to the hospitnl. The Mayor prosidod, and Lork Plunkot and Sir J. Q. Ward woro among those presont. The facts of the cose in eouueotion with tho proseut hospital, which was originally built for tho exhibition of 18G5, were submitted by tho Chairman of tho Hospital Trustoos, Mr Potor Miller, and tho Chairman of of tho honorary medical stuff. Dr G. McDonald. Tho first resolution was moved by Lord Plunkot houitily approving of stops boiDg
taken to oroet a new modioal ward. This was seconded by Mr J. A. Millar, M.H.R., and carried unanimously. A strong oom mitteo was then appointed to take stops to raise tho neoossnry funds. The meeting was an enthusiastic and representative one. Lady Plunket to-day openod a bazaar, which is boing held to raise funds to assist tho school for Maori girls at Turakinn, and made a neat little speech advocating the claims of the Maori raco for assistance.
Timaru, last night. Tho Hon. Hall-Jones addressed his constituents Co-night, a vote of confidence in tho Minister and Govornmont boing carried by noolamation.
