(Per Press Association.) Dunedin, last night. George Ottaway, on a of having kept liquor for sale at Nugget Bay, in the Clutha district, was fined £25 and costs by Mr Cruicksbank, S.M. Wellington, last night. At a sitting of tho Divorce Court today decrees niso were granted in the following cases : W r . H. E. Swain v. Sarah L. SwaiD, adultery and desertion ; Davy v. Davy, husband’s petition for failure to comply with an order for restitution of conjugal 1-ightß ; Ellen Pearce v. W. B. Pearce, the same ground; Georgo Farrell v. Haidee Farrell and M. Buller, adultery ; F. Mowlom v. Emma Mowlem and G. Denby, adultery. Several prisoners were eentenced by the Chief Justice to-day. . Francis Henry Jeffery, for forgery and uttering, was sen tenced to 13 months ; George Hiokon, for forgery, admitted to probation; Joseph Iliffe, breaking and entering, nine monthß ; F. W. Howell, theft from a dwelling, ten months. . Christchurch, last night.
In tho Magistrate’s Court to-day Susan Wood and Mabel Atkinson were charged with causing the death of Constnnoe Cornford Cudden by placing her iu a straight jacket and strapping her down to the bed, thns committing the crime of manslaughter. Mr Bussoll, who appeared for accused, Haid they were not present. Mrs Wood was in delicate health, suffering from heart disease. Ho asked for bail formally. Accused, who were not under arroßt, were admitted to bail in £SO oaoh. Tho caso was adjourned till May 31st.
