AN IMPRESSIVE UNVEILING CEREMONY.

Tho colonial memorial unveiled by the Prince of Wales at St. Paul’s Cathedral on Empiro Day represents an angel with outstretched wings bending over a figure on a cross. The memorial is in bronze, designed by the Duchess of Argyle. An impressive service was held. There was a large congregation, including the Princess of Wales, the Duchess of Teck, Mr Balfour, Mr Lyttelton, Mr Arnold Forster, Mr Chamberlain, the Duke of Argyle, Lord Roberts, Sir Eedvers Buffer, Lord Methuen, Sir Edward Hutton, General Baden-Powell, Lord and Lady Carrington, Lord and Lady Ranfurly, Sir George Sydenham Clarke, and the AgentßGoneral. The Prince of Wales wore the uniform of the King’s Colonials, who provided the guard of honor. Canon Bcott Holland delivered an, address. Ho emphasised, the thrill the nation felt when it discovered that the colonists were ready to assist the Motherland, showing that the bond of blood did not need artificial ties to enforce its claim. Dean Gregory read the dediotatory prayers.
