No tenders were sent in to the Wairoa County Council for delivery of 1500 tons of stone or concrete for placing round the Wairoa bridge cylinders. At the meeting of the Wairoa Counoil the chairman stated he and Crs Parker and Brown, with the enginoer, had inspected the Te Beinga bridge, which was very dangerous owing to the breaking away of the foundation rock. A bridge could be erected on the Hangaroa, higher up, but it would be in Cook County. Cr Brown moved, and Cr Parker seconded—That the Cook County Council be written to stating that To Beinga bridge was dangerous, and the only available site was in the Cook County over the Hangaroa, that this Conn, cil has no power to do the work, butjwould contribute. —Carried. A Councillor suggested chaining the bridge to save the material, but the engineer stated that onee it started to go no chains would hold it. It had been made as safe as possible, and very likely would stand the winter.
