The leader of the Opposition addressed a large and enthusiastic meoting last night. His speech was on tho lines of hiß recent speeches. The Stratford Borough Council bns settled privately a claim made by Mrs Montgomerie for damages owing to alleged depreciation of her .property through the erection of septic tanks on .land adjoining. The claim originally was £3400, but the sum agreed upon in settlement is £9OO. Blenheim, last night. The second series of weekly results at the egg-laying competition were recorded on Monday morning, but when the local press applied for information it was informed that they were not available, the results having beon mailed to tho Department of Agriculture at Wellington, and the management of the competition will not divulge them directly to the press (as in the case of the Lincoln College competition! witbout the express sanction of he Department.
