At the annual meeting of the School Committees’ Association to-night, the executive was instructed to have prepared a Bill providing for more equitable representation on the Education Board, Mr T. E. Taylor to be asked to introduce the Bill next session.
At the Supreme Court the case for the prosecution in the Amberley burglary case closed this afternoon. Counsel for Dennett did ,not call evidence. Allandale called evidence. John Hayes stated that he alone- hEd committed the burglary, neither Dennett nor Allandale being at Amberley on the day it occurred. The Court adjourned till to-morrow morning. Dunedin, last night. John Graham, a bookmaker, was charged to day with trespassing on the Mosgiel Park racecourse. Mr W. C. McGregor, for the defendant, raieed ths point that only the owner of the ground could Taieri Amateur Turf Club were only lessees, and had a civil remedy. The club had no authority to empower anyone to take proceedings for ‘ trespass. The S.M. reserved decision. Louisa Maria Carley, a married woman, attempted to oommitt suicide to day by cutting her throat with a razor. She was taken to the hospital, and is considered out of danger.
