The Auckland Star’s London correspondent, writing on April 7th, states :—“ The King, who loft London yesterday to join Her Majosty at Marseilles, certainly gave no outward indications of bad health, as, dressed in the ordinary travelling garb of an English gentleman, ho passed before the critical eyes of bis subjeots, who had mustered at Victoria Station to bid him au revoir. His Majesty, indeed, was looking extremely well. King Edward’s journey was planned merely as a restorative after his recent indisposition, but the fact that he had a private interview with President Loubot during j tho train run from Pierrefitte to Paris, ooupled with tho German Emperor's peaceful “ raid ” on Morocco, haß invested His Majesty’s trip with some significanoe. The meetiug with President Loubet was, it is said, “ hastily arranged,” and the papers, both hero and in France, seem to think that it has more meaning than would attach to a mere exohange of courtesies. As the King was making his journey through France, “ strictly incognito,” no French warships greeted him on his arrival at Calais, but when he landed there a huge crowd of enthustiastio Frenchmen greeted him with shouts of “ Vive le Roi! ” The greeting between the King and M. Loubet at Pierrefitte station was of the most cordial kind, but both tbore and at the Gare de Lyons only a favored few were allowed on the platform at which the Royal train drew up, and these respeoted His. Majesty’s desire to remain “ unknown ” by refraining from cheering, merely raising (their hats as the train ~qyedawsy, j. . , ..•
