GASOLINE MOTOR CAR.
SUCCESSFUL TRIAL. Per R.M.S, Ventura, at Auckland. San Francisco, April 27. A despatch from the Grand Union of Nebraska of April 17th says tho UnionPaoifio’s gasoline motor car, whioh arrived yesterday from Omaha, wont into comr&ssian to-day, making regular trips between hero and St. Pan!, a distanoo of 22 miles. The run from Omaha was a signal a access. On board were ofiioials from tho mechanical and passenger departments, and iavitsd gaosts from Omaha. To tho - valley, over grades and curves, tho oar demonstrated its efficiency in a marked degree. From Valley to Fremont, 12 miles wore oovored in fifteen minutes, beating schedule time of the Overland, Limited. The oar, however, was only geared to forty miles an hour, though capable of almost unlimited speed. Severe testa have been made with tho car in aud around Omaha, and after some weeks of I * actual working experience here it will be sent to Portland, where it will bo placed in regular servioe ou a branch of the Oregon Bailroad and Navigation Company.
