(Per Press 'Association.) - Christchurch, last night. \ AThe Bank of Now Zealand informed the' Qs f Oity Council that a loss of £539 9s 6d had been incurred by tho bank in respect to tbe Council’s proposals, whioh the ratepayers rejeotod, to take some of tho bank’s V lands for street widening purposes. The letters were received and tho Council ro- > cordod its regret that the bank should have bad to incur such a largo liability. The Council decided to ask the Railway Department to construct a subway under «£.. • ' Colombo street railway crossing-ora bridge over it, to reduce tho danger to the pub • lio.
