LAND SCANDAL.
EXAMINATION OF MR CRICK
By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyrlghl Received 9.47 p.m., May 11.
Sydney, May 11. At the Land Commission Mr Crick gave evidence. He said from offioial documents that applications for conversion of leases had been before him as Minister of Lands, but he remembered nothing of the matter. He signed hundreds of papers without reading them when he saw they were signed by the under-secretary. He could not remember Willis interviewing him. He thought the application a proper one that should have been granted, bat he would not npset the decision of the Land Board.
In reply to the question if he had any pecuniary interest in the case, he said, “ None whatever.” It was a great pity the newspapers did not make a direct charge. A man could be an honest man all his life, but when he became.a Minister he was slandered.
The Commission adjourned eine die.
