(Per Press Association.) Wellington, last night.

The death of the infant daughter of Mr Tyson, of Newtown, took place under distressing circumstances. The child had been given a drink on two occasions from an ordinary feeding bottle, and each time vomited. In emptying the contents of the bottle the parents were horrified to find the remains of 15 wax matches. Medical aid was sought. The infant died. A verdict of accidental phosphorus poisoning was returned.

William Gibson, an ex-constable, was cht.\rged at the Supreme Court to-day with having committed perjury in connection with ctrses brought against James Kennedy at the Magistrate's Court on February 27. The case Was aimilar to that brought against ex-Constable How Joy, who was found not guilty on the ground that it was a ease of mistaken identity. The Crown in the present case decided not to ofier any evidence, and accust?!* was discharged.
