"Wellington, last night. Tho Department of Industries and Commerce has received tho following oablegrom from the Agent-General, dated Dondon, 6th inst: —’* Thorc has boon no alteration in the mutton market sinoo last week’s report. The lamb market is steady. Tho average price to-day for Now Zealand Jamb, Canterbury brand, is 51d per lb, and for New Zealand lamb of brands other than Canterbury per lb. Tho beef market is quiet, Now Zealand being scarce. The average prioe to-day for hiudquartors of New Zealand beef is o£d per lb, forequartors 2§d per lb. Tho butter market is quiet, with a tendency in favor of buyers. Tho average price of choicest Now Zealand to-day is 93s per ewt, Danish 99s per owt. The oheeso market is quiet, but steady. The average price of finest New Zealand cheese to-day is 56s per cwt. There has not been much change iu the hemp market sinoo last report, tho tendency being slightly in favor of sellers. In stock there are 1338 bales against 643 for tho same period of last year. The cocksfoot seed market is quiet, and buyers are not keen to do business. There is no pressure to sell, but few enquiries are being made by speculative buyers. Tho average prioe for bright, clean, New Zealand oooksfoot seed, weighing 171 b per bushel, on spot, is 53s per owt. The market is very notive for all descriptions of wool.”
