CHURCH DEDICATION.

(Per- Press Association.) Invercargill, last night. The now Roman Catholic Church of St. Mary was dedioated to-day in the presence of a very large congregation, trains bringing many from the country. The ceremonial was most impressive, those taking part in it being Dr Redwood (Archbishop of Wellington), Dr Grimes (Bishop of Ohristohurch), Dr Verdon (Bishop of Dunedin), Monsignors McKay and O’Leary, Dean Burke, and the local clergy. Dr Redwood preached an eloquent sermon, taking for his text psalm 118, 28. The church, which will seat 1100 people, is a massive brick building, cruciform, with a Byzantine dome springing from the centre to a height of over 100 ft, and which is quite an imposing feature of the level landscape.
