GENERAL BOOTH.
(Per Press Association.) I Auckland, last night. General Booth arrived in Auckland this I morning by way of Onehunga. His landI ing was most unostentatious. There was no formal ceremony of welcome, but a I largo number of local officers assembled on I the wharf at Onehunga to receiue their General. _ A composite band played some spirited airs as the Tokapuna drew np to the wharf, The General looked rather frail and worn by the journey. He took off his hat to the assembled soldiers, and movod through thorn cheerfully, acknowledging their salutes, and then entered his oarriage, which took him to Parnell, where he is staying at the Army Officer’s home, “I saw seven mayors, Jand-addressed eight meetings yesterday as we came up from Wellington, and I was delighted with the warmth of the welcome they gave me,” the General said to an interviewer.

To-morrow I he devotes himself to the soldiers, on Sunday ho addresses meetings at the Opera House, and on Monday night sails for Sydney. ! Later.—General Booth had a crowded audience and a most enthusiastic reception to-Dight, when he delivered an address on the past, present, and future of the Salvation Army. The Hon. E. Mitohelson (exMayor) presided, and a large number of leading citizons occupied seats on the platform, including Mr Arthur M. Myers, the newly-elected Mayor of the city.
