WAffPIRO BAY. * (From Our Own. Correspondent.) April 29. The annual meeting of householders for the eleotion of the school committee for i., the ensuing year was held in the schoolroom on Tuesday, April 25th. There was a fair attendance. Mr J. F. Pettie was elected chairman, and he read the report and balance-sheet 'or the past year. The proposed scheme a Government superannuation fund for ohera was discussed by the meeting, and Viyulted in a resolution heing forwarded ' T-tbe Premier in favor of the suporannna--"Jn scheme being adopted. ' JplA vote of thanks was accorded the outcommittee for their services during bo past year. V The following committee were elected : ' J. F. Pettie (chairman), A. P. A meeting is to be called shortly in or-
dor to form a beautifying association boro, and should bo largely attended. Although our township has been greatly improved during the last twelve mouths it is very evident that a few voluntary workers will bo able to aohiovo great results by tho planting of trooa on Arbor Day. Provision should, however, bo made for the proteotion of trees whon plantod, and with this ond in view there is no doubt that a public pound will Do found necessary, and i will also tend to keep our footpaths in bettor oondition.
The Waipiro annual ball, whioh Is so eagerly lookod forward to every yoar, took place on Friday, tho 28th inst. As usual there wore a largo number of pooplo present from all parts of tho Coast. The committee gave ovory attention to the wants of those present, ond tho ball was voted one of the best that had over been given on tho Coast.

> .TUPAROA, .(From Our Own Correspondent.) April 29. The Bastor holidays passed off very. quietly in glorious weather. The Native Council is still busy, settling the titles in. the Mangawhariki block. They expect to have finished thoir labors in about a week. The Tupawairoa block, the leaso of which is just up, has been re-leash-ed to Mr T. S, Williams at 4s per acre, subject to the Natives intercstiHcorporating. The Kaco arrived here last Monday. evening from Auckland and the Bays. After discharging about nine I •tons of general merchandise she left I again qa Tuesday, forenoon for Gisborne. I The I-lauDiri arrived from Gis- I borne and the South on Wednesday. I After lauding mails and one boat I load of cargo she left again for I Auckland during the afternoon. On Friday afternoon a young man I named Watkins, employed on the Matahiia Station, met with a rather I painful accident- He was taking the I crupper off his hior.se when the horse Kicked him in the region of the kidneys, which is causing liim great suffering. The doctor was sum- I mc-ned by telephone, but lie has not j ; up to the time of writing able to; state the exact amount of injury I that Watkins has received. I
