I The Borough election for Councillors on j Wednesday resulted in the return of J Messrs Coates, Kerr, Petrie, Tennent, ( Shanahan, Bignell, Sheedy, Morris and ] Hart. To-day Morris resigued owing to a I petition being lodged that he was one of [ the bondsmen for the Town Hall contraot and not entitled to a seat. A wharf laborer named Peterson broke | a blood vessel on Sunday evening and died shortly afterwards. Dr Bell, Government geologist, is now visiting the Wilberforce reefs, and from wbat can bo gathered he is greatly impressed with them. He has reported to the Premier and tho nature of the report is anxiously awaited. On the Coast there are several cases of diphtheria reported, one case ending fatally.
