LAND BOARD.
Tho quarterly meeting o£ the Hawke s | Bay liand Board was held at Gisborne on j Saturday. Present : Messrs Gold-Smith 1 (Commissioner Crown Lands,, Hyde, Mattinowson, and Baines. Messrs Dalgety and Go. wrote re road access to seotion 2, block 6, Wigan, leased by B. O. Craig.—Lessee to be informed that road excess liad been provided, and if he were not satisfied with it he must apply to the local body. . . ~ ... „ T Mr E. J. Ohrisp, on behalf of Mr W. Mossman, waited on the Board re road access to that gentleman’s property at Hangaroa. The promise to havo something done in the matter had not been fulfilled, although all that was required was a surveyor to work out the road. It was decided to urge on the Survey Department the necessity of the work. . Mr C. Jackson waited on tho Board in regard to a drain through Mr Maxwell’s sections, tho Willows, whioh was blooked —District Surveyor directed to see what could be done. E. Diokensbn, lessee of small grazing run 85 Tuabu S.D., conplained of tho deduction of 3000 acres for forest reserve from the area originally advertised.—The Commissioner stated that at the last moment the Government had decided to take out the reserves, and this was put on the sale plans, and distinctly stated at the ballot. No rent had been charged for the reserve, through which tho lessee had a right of road. His statements were inaccurate. . , . , . . Mr J. Sheridan applied for leaßO of subdivision 4 of section 14, block 15, Nuhake North, adjoining sections now leased by him.—Granted tho right to improve the section. Mr J. Taylor, who has been occupying a section of 8 acres on Tarata blook, wrote asking for lease, offering 5s an acre and compensation for improvements if lease is declined. The Board decided that more information was required of the locality before dealing with the request. An extension of 6 months time was granted A. W. Horne, lessee of section 1, blook 3, Urutawa East, in oomplying with improvement conditions. Applications for transfers were dealt with ae follows . A. Trafford to W. B. Butledge, small grazing run 88, Wigan settlement, lease 15. —Beoommended for approval. Wm. Biohardson to Wm; Richardson and W. Cunningham, section 1, block V., Motu survey district, O.R;P. 196.—Approved. _ _ _ L. P. Bullon to O. F. Philps and F. G. Lucas, section 25, blook 11, Motu survey district, 0.8. P. 258.—Approved. W. F. A. Hood to B. G. Black, part small grazing run 43, Waingaromia lease 27. —Approved. J. P. Greaves to M. L. Dunstan, section 11, block VI., Willows settlement, L.B. 162.—Approved, subject to the residential condition being carried out W. Bolton to D. and H. McGregor, seotion 12, blook VII., Motu survey district, O.R.P. 129;—Approved. J. N. Show to W. E. Shaw, section 2, blook 11., Ngatapa survey district, O.R.P. 249. —Approved. J. Thomson to A. McGaveston, section 153, Patutahi suburbs, LP. 33. —Approved. H. M. Porter and D. G. 8, Macdonald to F. A. Hansen and W. J. Bright, seotion 2, block 111. —Approved. W. Gray applied to be allowed to exchange his section 10, block X., Lindsay Setslemont, for section 13, block X., Lindsay, for which Upsall Gray was the successful applicant. Mr TJ. Gray also wrote agreeing to the exchange.—Approved. An application for transfer from N. J. Miller of section 2, blook 11, Urutawa, to W. Fisher and others, was received. —The Board decided that they could not approve of the transfer until tho necessary improvements wore effected. The following application for land wero approved : Alex. Brownlee, small grazing run 76, Ngatapa; John Wilson, 0.R.P., 2000 acreß, blook IX , Motu. The purchasers of tbo sections disposed of at the suotion sale, Patutahi township, were approved. ... ■ Local bodies’proposals for expenditure of thirds and fourths were approved as under : Waiap.u County Council £ll9 13s 6d, Cook County Counoil JE344 16s lOd, Ngatapa Road Board D 92 7s 4d, ditto JE247 10s ; 6d, ditto £SO. It was decided that small grazing run 31, recently surrendered, be offered at the former rent of .£65 17s 6d per annum. A report was received from the ranger re the cutting of trees by tho occupier (Mr Reid) of section 1- blook VIII., Waiinarie, who had sold' three pine trees, apparently in ignorance of the regulations. The Board deoided that Mr Reid should bo I asked to refund the he received for tho trees, and that it ho'pointed out to him that he bad committed a breach of the | regulations
