SERIOUS ACCIDENT.

Titnacu, last night,
An accident of a peculiar nature happened near Fairlie. Two men were driving from Fairlie to Tekapo, one leading ahorßo behind the vehicle, when two cyclists suddenly comiog np behind so frightened tho led horse as to cause it to jump into the / < l vehicle between the two occupants. This so startled the horse in the shafts that rt bolted, with the result that both men were thrown out and rendered unconscious, and the one who was smoking at the time bad the stem of his pipe forced through his cheek.
