The Rev. R. M. Ryburn, now of Wanganui, is on a visit to Gisborne. Attention is called to the special an nouncemont made by Melbourne Oasb. The mayoral and borough elections take plaoe to-morrow. Several addresses from candidates for the municipal elections appear in this issue.
Mr W. F. Hale telegraphs us from Tolago Bay stating that he was not a tenderer for the Tolago bridge toll. The Borough Council as at present constituted holds its farewell meeting tonight.
The Premier declares that there is no foundation for the rumor of a reconstruction of the Cabinet. Mr J. A. Ctesar has been appointed to fill the vacancy on the Licensing Benoh caused by the death of Mrs Sievwright. The annual meeting of the Acclimatisation Society has been adjourned to 2 p.m, on Thursday. The sale of Mr H. Willoughby’s dairy herd.and plant, with horses, etc., takes place at 1.30 p.m. to-morrow. Mails per Orient vessels leave Adelaide on the 27th inst., Naples 30th idem and fortnightly thereafter, alternating with P. and O. service. The leader of the Opposition has challenged the Premier to deny that he will be in London within twelve months as High Commissioner at a salary of £2OOO per annum. A robbery of £IOO took plaoe on the Otago Central railway on Friday. The money was being despatched from Omakau to a town station, and was mißsed just before Dunedin was reaohed. There was a heavy swell in the bay on Sunday when the Tarawera arrived, but the steamer was tendered without muoh difficulty. The boats belonging to the Napier rowing olubs were shipped by the steamer, and two of them were considerably damaged in transhipping them from the Waihi to the Taraweaa. One of the boats which were smashed was greatly prized by the visitors, it being stated that they had never lost a race in it. Several members of the club personally supervised the shipping of their boats, and the damage was entirely due to the heavy swell that existed
A concert was held In the Morera disI riot school-room at Morere on Friday evening, April 14tb. The proceeds were in aid of a bell for St. Andrew's Church. There was a good attendance, Mr Proudlook presiding. The room was tastefully decorated with flags and nifcau palm leaves. Piano and violin selections were contributed by Mrs Tait, Miss MeGavin and Mr M. Shaw, pianoforte duets and solos by the Misses Boid, G. Proudloclc, L. and O. Keynolds ; songs were rendered by Mrs Tait, Misses Joblin and O. Beynolds, and Messrs Taylor, Sharp, Deighton and E. Coop ; recitations were given by Messrs Mayo and Sloane, and a vooal duet was also given by Messrs E. Coop and J. Reynolds. The various items were well received,' and encores were responded to by Miss Beynolds, Messrs Coop, Taylor, Deighton and Sharp. The accompaniments were played by the Misses Reynolds and McGavin. The piano was I kindly supplied by Mrs Tait. At the close of the entertainmont refreshments were passed round and appreciated by all present. A heary vote of thankß to those who contributed towards the evening's amusement was accorded. The proceeds of the concert amounted to about £B, which was considered satisfactory.—Own Corre spondent,

The performance opened with an overture, pular Jingles,” by the " Friv ” orehest under the baton of Mr J. A. Stevens, w. ich was greatly appreciated. An opening chorus by the company was well received. Then followed songs and ballads by Messrs G. Tankard, G. Tudohope, P. Ameer, H. King, A. E. Renouf, H. Edwards, and J. E. Macassey, the first part of the entertainment winding up with a I oborus and cakewalk by the company, j All the items were accompanied by the I full orchestra. “ Witches’ Whirl,” by the j orchestra, introduced the second part. A I song, “ Storm Fiend,” by Mr H. Brown- I ette, was the next item,-which was encored. | Then followed a display of trick cycling j by Mr Albert King, who received rounds I I of applause for his clover exhibition. A I I flute solo, “Bohemian Girl,” by Mr L.
