NARROW ESCAPES OF INMATE
(Per Press Association.) , Wanganui, last night. McCarthy’s Family Hotel, opposite'the railway station, was destroyed by fire at, 11.25 on Thursday night. There were sixteen boarders in the house and they, with the servants and owner’s - family, escaped with only their night clothes. One man, named Jas. Gilpin, was taken to thi~ hospital, suffering from burnt ieet, sustained by running barefoot down a passage. i. The building was insured for £ISOO, *8
