EDUCATIONAL MATTERS
’(Per Press Association.) Auckland, last night. At a meeting of the Education Board Mr Hobbs drew attention to some statements in which the Premier is reported to have made certain adverse statements with regard to the administration of moneys by Education Boards. Mr Hobbs advised that the Promier be asked what Board he reforred to, as it was a reflection which should not pass unchallenged, and moved accordingly. Other members were opposed to taking notice of the statements, and on it being put to the meeting Mr Hobbs’ motion was lost.
The sub-committee appointed to report upon the question of establishing two district high schools for the city and suburbs, aB suggested by the Minister of Education to the deputation which waited upon him or* March 2nd, recommend that application be made to the Minister for his sanction to the conversion of the Newmarket and Richmond road schools into district high schools. The report was adopted.
