RUSK FOR LAND.

[(Per Press Association.) Nelson, last night. A highly successful sale of Crown lands in the Maruia district, between Nelson and Reefton, has taken place. There were 44 sections,-containing in all 22.554 acres, and the necessary ballot was conducted at Murchison on Thursday. Thirty-one sections, comprising over 15,000 acres, were taken up, and only in four cases was there a single application. For one there were 89 applicants. It is anticipated that the remaining seotions will be secured by the unsuccessful applicants.
