(Per Press Association.) Napier, last night. A branch of the Navy League has been formed hero, and branches also in connection with tho various local ' schools. Mr Palmer, Wellington representative of the League, elated that the gathering of school children held to" form branches of the League was the largest he hud seen in the colony.
Christchurch, last night. Dr Leslie Crooke, bouse surgeon at the hospital, who resigned in eonaoquenoe of strictures contained in a letter from the honorary medical staff to tho hospital board, has withdrawn his resignation.
Napier, last night. Tho Hon. James Carroll arrived at Hastings to-day, and will leave for Wellington by express train to-morrow.
