[AUCKLAND, last night. As an outcome of the heed for
petto;: eo.ol storage accommodation for butter carried *by; West Coast' steamers, -to New;.Plymouth cn route
to .Wellington for 'export, a deputation of the Auckland -A. and P. ' Association inter,viewed the manager of the Union S.S. Company. (Mr Irvine) on tho question,, and asked •that . such accommodation .be provided in the same way-as was done on steamers, from New'Plymouth to Wellington. Mr Invine replied .that .tne Company realised the. need, and were already building more steamers
with machinery. .The tnpublc in. the past had arisen when it had been necessary to send ’ the surplus of the Itotoiti consignment by a_ smaller steamer. He would submit question to his company, and hoped a refrigerating steamer would be.put on the riin next season. The deputation next waited on- the traffic, manager of the railways department,. and asked for a greater supply of insulated trucks between ’Auckland and Onehuinga, and on other; lines on which butter was frequently conveyed. Me' Waite, traffic., manage.r, promised- to secure as much improvement, in -the matter menlioneti as y/as possible.
