POLITICAL
Per Press Association^ Wellington, last night. Mr F. M. B. Fisher, who is contesting the vacancy in the Parliamentary representation of Wellington, caused by the death of his father, addressed the electors to-night. There was a large gathering. The candidate was well received and had a good hearing. He declared that he was Libera], but was unable to agree to the doctrine that he should support his party in the wrong as well as in tho right. The Liberal party was at present iu a state of transformation. Reform must come from inside. The people now recognise they had given Mr Seddon so much power that they could not take it back. The Political Labor League was endeavouring to wrest from the Premier the power ho had taken from the people. He did not look to Mr Massey for reform. ’ That gentleman would never reflect the opinions of the people. The candidate said he believed no license was desirable. He was a freeholder, but in favour of limiting the area held by any individual. At the conclusion of the meeting a vote of thanks and confidence was carried.
