SERIOUS ACCIDENT.
(Per Pboss Association.) Thames yesterday. A serious mining accident occurred in the Waiotahi mine last night. Three men , . James Jenkins, W. McConnell, and I Yercoo —were working in a drive, and i I having put in two shots waited for them iJST'-o „ 0 off. Evidently one missed, for on ’ *• back to continue work an explosion -1 « EB Vd. The men received considerable Jlwtfriea. Assistance was at once obtained, l and they were taken to the hospital. V )• On examination it was found that Me- ' Connell, though badly cut about, was in no immediate danger, but the injuries to Jenkins wore far more cerions, aDd it is feared his eyesight - will be affected by the (.y. force of the explosion. Yercoe received ’.T" slight injuries. : This morning the hospital reports that the men had a good night. Jenkins is in '.-0:r a eerious condition, though Mb recovery is ijf- probable.
