At a mooting of the Wellington Pro- V, vinciul Executive of tbo Farmers’ Union to-day returns wore received from tbe various districts promising support towards tho Mutual Fite Insurance Company., Over £40,000 worth of insurance was guaranteed in Marton and Lower Rangitikoi districts, and £ls 000 from Wavorley.
The Colonial Executive of the Farmers’ JUniou decided to circularise tho whole of . - tho branches in the colony, pointing out. ; " tho attitude of tho Government in to carry out their promise to erect bone storilising works for the prevention of - anthrax, and urge the necessity for com- , bined action in tho matter. A protest was also recorded against tho action of the Minister for Education in withdrawing capitation for cottage gardens in the face of tho strong efforts being made by the ( Union to. further nature -.i’ll study and rural education for country schools.
