EAST COAST NEWS.

WH ANGARA 1 . (From Our Own Correspondent.) March 20.

Aftor tho severe gale of last week the j woethor is now all that ono oan desire, it I being more like mild spring weather than I wbat wo generally got at this season. I Everything is looking well with plonty of I feed everywhere. I Station work is not so far advanced os I it should bo, but that is owing more to tho I scaroity of labor than anything else, j The Coast presented quite an animatod I nppenranoo last week with tho holiday- I I makers journeying to and from Tolago I races. Host Shaw Had his hands full, J every available space being utilised fo I sleeping accommodation, but with his I usual capable management sent every one I on their way rejoicing. Captain Skinner was in tho bay to-day I with his new schooner Kaeo. I

The' roads are e-.1l in good order jus now.

.TOKOMARU. [(From Our Own Correspondent.) March 21.

I Tho entries for the Dog Trial proved I quite up to expectations, 129 in all. Class J 1, 40 entries ; class 2, 51 entries ; class [ 3, 38 entries. I Mr Hill, Inspector of schools, passed I through hero on his way to Awanui yesI terday. The Union Company’s new Coastal boat (Haupiri) had to pass here and go on to Auckland owing to the heavy sea running ! last week. The local business places are quite out of some fines through the Haupiri not being ablo to oall. The local raco mooting to-morrow promises to be a record one. Mr Jamieson, secretary and treasurer, has everything well in hand, and the entries in oaoh event exceeds that of all past meetings. Mr J. Green’s win at Tolago Bay was vory popular, and will be pome slight recompense for his last bad luck. I hope I Waimaori will continue to be a souroe of I profit to his spottsmanlike owner.
