MUTINOUS PRISONERS.

An exerting scene occurrod at the Police Court when five prisonera concerned in a disturbance at Mount Eden gaol wore put on trial. A prisoner named Ashton, giving evidence on behalf of accused made «n insulting remark to the Magistrate, who ordored his removal from the witness box. 000 of the accused men, Williams, thereupon used most obscene languago and struck Constable Moriarty in tbs mouth. The pol'oo eoized Williams, whereupon Ashton rushed to the assistance of Williams, but was seized by a wardoc and removed from tbo Court amid a volley of oaths. The case then procooded. lhe defenco of tho accused men appears to bo iihat they asked for water and it was refused In reply to this, the gaol ofSoials atate that the prisoners had water when removed from another coll.
