An exerting scene occurrod at the Police Court when five prisonera concerned in a disturbance at Mount Eden gaol wore put on trial. A prisoner named Ashton, giving evidence on behalf of accused made «n insulting remark to the Magistrate, who ordored his removal from the witness box. 000 of the accused men, Williams, thereupon used most obscene languago and struck Constable Moriarty in tbs mouth.
