The City Health Officer reports tbatjthe health of the people is exceedingly good. Death from all diseases are lower than in any twelve months for the past seven years. The infantile mortality shows a distinct falling off. The Minister of Education haß promised favorable consideration of a proposal that all school children be medioally examined with the view of remedying minor defects in regard to vision and hearing, and for removing dangers of spreading disease by infection and contagion.
A deputation informed him that 25 per cent of the children attending the State schools suffer from tuberculosis and other diseases, rendering them physically unfit to receive proper education.
