By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright Received 9.45 p.in., March 17.
London, March 17. Mr Mi.cNumaru asked in the House of Commons for the names of contractors supplying 1.856.81 G tins of jams to South Aftica. ouch containing twelve ounces, instead of one pound. Mr Eorster replied that the contracts were made in Australia through the Agents General. The names of the contractors wore unknown here.
Me Redmond, speaking at the Irish National banquet in London, said the political prospocis of Ireland were never bettor, despito Lord Rosebery’s fruitless denunciation of Hornu Rule-. Tho Irish would support no Liberal parly taking Lord Rosebery's view. Even if the Liberals were returned nominally independent of th/j Nationalists, tho Government would filed it a sheer impossibility to govern Ireland, for tho Irish party would make it so.
