The present lengthy spell of fine weather is seriously interfering with alluvial mining, most of tho goldfield being at a standstill owing to want of water. Development work at Wolderforce reef is Bteadily proceeding. The prospecting tunnel will shortly be completed, and experts are no tv on the ground deciding as to future operations. Expectations as to the future of the field are very pronounced. The Arbitration Court gave judgment in the disputes of the Blackball miners, Reefton miners, Denniston miners, and engine drivers against their respective employers. It was resolved to make no award in connection with the bank-to-bank regulations, considering it would have an ill-effect. Thi3 decision will result in the present award remaining in force. The claim of Vooassovetoh v._tke King,for compensation for life of 80s per week for injuries sustained by falling and breaking his-,oollar-bone when repairing a telegraph line, was heard. The Court held that tho offer of the Postal Department of £lB 15s, which was refused by plaintiff, meets the case, and gave judgment for that amo.upt, each party *9 P a y hiß own costs.
