At a meeting of the directors of the Manawatu Bail way Company to-day, it was decided to recommend the payment of a dividend of 4 per cent for the half year, making 7 per cent for the year. News haß been received of the death in Melbourne to-day of H. D. Levinsobn, merchant, of Wellington, and formerly of Auckland. i
The Victoria College Council to-night decided to appoint a professor of law at a salary of £7OO, and lecturer in law at a salary of £IOO.
