I Ashburton, last night. s tbs Magistrate’s Court Samuel pleaded his inability to pay a *s** finevof-CoO inflicted a fortnight ago for ilieally keeping liquor for sale. - His aoliijtor argued that a penalty of not more month’s imprisonment should be timesed.; The Magistrate, reserved his sentnee. Jhn Laffey, William Burns, John 1 Aloknder, and Thomas Alexander, were eaojfined £1 and costs for' being on the prejises of Samuel Alexander for the purpoaof illegally .dealing in liquor. Evidecs was taken in the case against Julia * Hyjnd, charged with/ illegally keeping liqifc for sale, and the decision was zesived.
